Health Disparities

The Challenge

Providers are often unaware that Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and other Pacific Islanders (AA&NHOPIs) suffer more from certain diseases than whites or other racial/ethnic groups. Additionally, there is a lack of culturally and linguistically appropriate programs in existence to serve AA&NHOPIs impacted in these disease areas.

Our Strategy

AAPCHO develops, in conjunction with its partners, health education, and promotion programs that are tailored to the cultural and language needs of the AA&NHOPI population served.

AA&NHOPIs are disproportionately affected by diseases such as hepatitis B, diabetes and tuberculosis.
