Melanie Ly is AAPCHO’s Research Intern. Melanie was born and raised in Sacramento, California, as the oldest of five. She currently studying at UC Berkeley, hoping to declare Psychology. After graduating, she is interested in pursuing a Master’s degree and finding a career in health to help underserved Asian American communities. Specifically, she is interested in becoming a therapist and hopes to one day be able to provide a comfortable space for individuals to open up about difficult issues they’ve encountered, such as depression and other mental disorders. Outside of school work, she loves to cook, bond with her family, listen to music and enjoy the weather. She is also active in the Hmong Student Association at Berkeley as an intern and Finance Coordinator.
