Supports AAPI Week of Action to Stand up for the Needs of Immigrant Communities

WASHINGTON – The Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) today released the following statement in response to President Trump’s announcement of immigration priorities:

“Jeopardizing the safety of Dreamers and increasing the instability of their families and communities is inhumane and anti-family,” said Jeffrey Caballero, executive director of AAPCHO. “AAPCHO stands for the health and well-being of the communities we serve and asks the Trump administration to support strong and safe communities where all aspiring Americans can thrive.”

AAPCHO supports community efforts like #AAPIAction—a week of coordinated actions by more than 30 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations working to push back on harmful immigration rhetoric and policies—including the rescinding of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, travel bans on refugees and immigrants from Muslim-majority countries, and immigration restrictions imposed by the proposed RAISE Act. For more information on #AAPIAction, visit: http://aapivoices.com. AAPCHO continues to push the Trump administration and Congress to uphold the health and dignity of all communities, including Dreamers and immigrants from Muslim-majority countries.
