WASHINGTON – The Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) today applauded the introduction of the Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6). The legislation creates a pathway to citizenship for more than two million Dreamers and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients, including hundreds of thousands of Asian Americans.

The bill, introduced by Reps. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA), Nydia Velázquez (D-NY), and Yvette Clarke (D-NY), would protect millions from deportation and allow Dreamers and individuals with TPS and DED to apply for lawful permanent resident status. More than 120,000 Asian American Dreamers and 15,000 Nepali TPS holders would benefit from the bill if passed.

AAPCHO calls on Congress to quickly pass the Dream and Promise Act and is committed to continuing to work with our members and partners to push for comprehensive immigration reform and meaningful policy change that keeps immigrant families together and protects the health, safety and well-being of all families.
