West Hawaii Community Health Center (WHCHC) serves the western half of the island of Hawaii, the Big Island. A vast majority of the population in this area are ethnic minorities, including Native Hawaiians, Hispanics, Micronesians, and other Pacific Islanders. The mission of WHCHC is to make quality, comprehensive, and integrated health services accessible to all who pass through their doors regardless of their ability to pay. These services will be culturally sensitive and will promote community well-being through the practice of “malama pono” (or “taking care”).
