Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AA & NHOPIs) across the country are disproportionately affected by numerous diseases and health conditions including diabetes, hepatitis B, and HIV/AIDS.
To help reduce the burden of these diseases on AA & NHOPIs, AAPCHO implements a broad range of health education and promotion programs through its member community health centers, and provides technical assistance, training, data and resources to various organizations nationwide, to help them better serve AA & NHOPIs in their communities.
AAPCHO's programs currently fall into three main categories: Capacity Building, Disease Specific, and Coalition Building.
Through these categories, AAPCHO aims to build the capacity of organizations to address AAPI health issues locally, develop partnerships with organizations in a larger collaborative effort to tackle AA & NHOPI health issues, and implement community-based and culturally and linguistically appropriate programs that effectively lessen the impact of diseases affecting AA & NHOPI.
