AA&NHOPIs in the United States Fact Sheet - NEW!In an effort to help spread even more awareness of AA&NHOPI health issues during National Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, AAPCHO released an updated Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders (AA & NHOPI) in the United States fact sheet with population and socioeconomic changes taken from the 2006-2008 American Community Survey. This new data shows the increasing diversity of the AA&NHOPI population and the need for culturally and linguistically appropriate primary heath care services for these groups.
Some updates include:
- AA&NHOPI population changes since the 2000 Census – an increase of 27.9% from 10.6 to 13.2 million
- Growth rates for the largest AA&NHOPI populations
- Socioeconomic indicators – poverty and household income, education, and linguistic isolation.
