Comments on USPSTF Hep B Screening Recommendations

The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) released their draft recommendations for hepatitis B screening in high-risk populations in February 2014, and opened up an opportunity for public comment until March 10, 2014. USPSTF raised the grade evaluating the evidence-based research on hepatitis B screening available to a “B” grade. Preventive services with an “A” or “B” grade have better chances of no cost-sharing under private insurance (non-grandfathered) plans and Medicaid/Medicare. Although AAPCHO and partner coalitions/organizations were happy to see the “B” grade, there were a few issues in the draft recommendation statement that were addressed in the comments.
