In September 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) released their CMS Emergency Preparedness Requirements that outlines four core elements which are applicable to 17 health care provider types. All providers and suppliers, including health centers, will have until November 15, 2017 year to comply or risk losing federal funding.

This webinar provided health centers and other providers an overview about the CMS Emergency Preparedness Requirements, which include guidelines on how to:

  • Develop Risk Assessment and Emergency Plans
  • Develop Communication Plans to contact staff and patients, and to coordinate communication within the facility, across health care providers, and with state and local public health departments and emergency management
  • Develop Emergency Policies and Procedures that support effective emergency response and recovery
  • Conduct Training and Plan Testing including a full-scale exercise to maintain and at a minimum update annually
