Join us for this first session of our Pacific Islanders and Diabetes Learning Community: Addressing and Improving Health Center Strategies series, which aims to increase knowledge and capacity of health centers to effectively meet the needs of Pacific Islander patients with diabetes. After this session, participants will:
- Know the current state of Pacific Islander health including diabetes,
- Have knowledge on the subgroups that make up Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders (NHPIs),
- Be able to identify at least four cultural factors that influence health care behaviors and health seeking practices among NHPIs, and
- Be able to list at least three culturally competent practices that can be applied in the clinic setting when working with NHPI patients.
